Has anyone subscribed to Setanta for just 1 month and then binned it?
I'm thinking of getting it just for October as Villa are on twice that month. Can I pay just for the calendar month of October and then stop? If so, would this just cost me £9.99 with no installation fee (I've got sky digital)?
Grazie!

I think your subscription date starts from the date you call, so make sure you buzz them on 1st Octber.
However, I would expect that they'll have a 28 day notice period (or something similar) meaning you'll end up paying double bubble anyway.
If you can just pay for a few months of coverage at £9.99 a pop though, I might be interested... _________________ ACF FIORENTINA : FORZA LA VIOLA

Not really, but I went to one of their games recently so they're now "my" team in Portugal in the same way Tenerife are "my" team in Spain and Palermo are mine in Italia! |

My brother lived in lisbon for a bit and decided that they were his portugese team, subsequently i have a benfica keyring that says 'rosa' on it making them my portugese team! .
(It's a novelty having stuff with my name on since you can't get 'rosa' anything in this country!) _________________ Forza Roma!

I've got a friend from northern Portugal and he said they refer to Sporting as The Green Toilet, so you can't follow them! Benfica are the biggest team in the country, so it's a bit like jumping on the Man Utd bandwagon. Porto aren't as big or as historic, but have been doing better than Benfica the past 2 decades.
Does Rosa mean red in "foreign"?

Don't suppose anyone's got the previous issue of the CalcioItalia magazine they'd be prepared to sell to me? I forgot to buy it, but like to get the season preview issue...

Yes, Roma's sponsor is currently Wind, a mobile phone plan provider. _________________ L'uomo tigre

Perhaps this should be in the BTTMUU thread, but I need some advice.
My new job is an absolute pile of pish and I’m already looking to get out. The main reason for my unhappiness is that I feel I’ve been seriously misled about what my job entails and how bad a state the company is actually in.
My contract states that I have to give the company one month’s notice even though I’m still in my probationary period (first three months), but during this period the company are only obliged to give me one week’s notice.
I’ve got another job lined up and should hopefully know later this week whether I’m in or not (they know all about my situation and won’t be getting a reference from my current employer or anything like that), but does anyone know if I could...
1) Resign with immediate effect and walk out of here without any comeback (from a legal perspective)?
2) Offer to work just a week’s notice seeing as that’s what the company would offer me?
3) Be forced to work a full month’s notice despite the one month notice period being longer than my actual period of employment by the company?
I won’t be able to hand my notice in until Monday next week at the earliest due to my managers being out of the country all this week, but a one week notice period would work out well as I get paid on the Friday of next week and I want to make sure that I get what I’m owed.
Also, my new employer would obviously want me there sooner rather than later.
Any assistance appreciated! _________________ ACF FIORENTINA : FORZA LA VIOLA

I believe you'd be entitled to option 2.
I think you only have to give 1 weeks notice within the probationary period, or equivalent to the notice that the company has to give you. That's the way it works in Ireland, i assume it's the same all over the EU.

Yes, I'm with Myles. During the probationary period you are free to give just a week's notice as you wouldn't have officially entered the full terms of your contract. The fact that your manager's on holiday shouldn't really come into the equation since if you wanted to leave one week hence, you could easily just advise H.R and that should be that.

Thanks guys, I'm hoping that option two is the way things will pan out but I suppose I wont really know until I do the deed.
I want to make sure that the devious fooker that is my manager doesn't withhold payment from me at the end of this month as this would put me right in the shite.
Does anyone else have some words of wisdom, or has perhaps faced the same situation in the past? _________________ ACF FIORENTINA : FORZA LA VIOLA

Have you thought of having a quick chat with someone at Citizen's Advice? They are reputed to be rather good at this sort of thing, and you don't end up facing the fees from Messrs Sue, Grabbit and Runn for the benefit of their advice. They should be able to give you the info as to what to do if your manager attempts to withold payment as well.
