Inter looked "likely" to sneak one on the break? That's a pretty generous statement; they ventured into Liverpool's half on a couple of occassions, but hardly looked likely to score.

There was always the feeling that Liverpool might do something stupid which would allow Inter to score on the break, but I never got the feeling that Inter would score without some ineptitude on Liverpool's part.
I can't help wondering if Arsene Wenger watched Vieira's performance with a certain air of smug satisfaction...

I was sceaming for Inter to bring in Suazo for his speed on the break and keeping Liverpools D a little honest.
Still think Inter can win this tie, but it will be difficult.
I don't get the gloating over Inter's loss. I hate Liverpool.

The sending off may seem harsh, but tbh even before that what did Inter do? For the first 20 mins u guys were already chasing the game. While all hope is not lost, it will be very difficult indeed.

I wouldn't blame him if he did, it would have been a tough call but to put 20m in the kitty and watch Vieira go on to be a cripple ever since would have to be rewarding to know you made the right call.

Roma in the CI?
That was at 3-0 down.
It is possible. But it will be extremely tough.
I wonder how serious these allegations of a Matrix - Ibra bustup are. Two very strong personalities. I see Ibra's point. It is very tedious seeing Inter get reduced to 10 men so often. But it was an extraordinarily harsh red card decision.
According to JC MAtrix looked sad and said nothing in the dressing room. hmm...

I know Inter didnt seem to approach the match too well but they were a bit unlucky in the last ten minutes the only time they didnt close down the space quick enough Gerrard scored,
Cant understand why Mancini didnt take Zlatan off sooner, surely Suazo would have done a better job chasing the hopeless long balls pinged up to Ibra

Me too, I don't wanna seem like I was gloating. I'd only do so in Serie A. I was just angry with Inter's half-arsed attitude to the CL when coming to England. It reminded me of Juve pathetic attempts. I can understand Euro-Liverpool at Anfield's force. But a team like Inter don't need to go there to defend. _________________ L'uomo tigre

Suazo should have come on instead of Vieira to at least give the pool defence something to think about with his pace.
Cordobas injury makes me think it will be too big an ask for the return leg. The wee guy was outstanding the other night.
Chivu and Burdisso at the back do not fill me with confidence but we will just have to hope the ref sends one of their players off cheaply at the Meazza.
Wondering what game Mancini was watching when he said he thought Vieira did well when he came on ?? _________________ It's quieter than a church before the crowds arrive.

If we play to our best there is no reason why we cant progress in the CL
Cesar
Maicon, Burdisso, Chivu, Maxwell
Figo, Zanetti, Cambiasso, Stankovic
Ibra, Cruz
Done the flanks we have amazing offensive potential. burdisso is good at corners, chivu is nifty from range. Zanetti and Cambiasso can defend and attack.
Im not seeing how either Burdisso or Chivu have the pace to deal with Torres but providing we can keep our concentration and not concede two goals is within this side. Maicon and Figo just need some match practice. And Stankovic.
It can be done. Keep the faith!

ok bitterness gone.
Looking at the second leg we need a near perfect game. We might as well start 4-4-2 as it's what we do best
JC
Maicon, Burdisso, Chivu, Maxwell
Zanetti Cambiasso
Figo Stankovic
Ibra any of the 3
but after 30 minutes if it's not happening and losing in midfield we have to go 3-5-2 and try and get some more numbers in the middle while still having width. Maybe pushing Maxwell up with Deki or Figo playing behind the strikers

not that I am sounding as paranoid as the Italians about referees, but Rosetti will gift Roma a penalty on wed night at the Meazza.
It's a certainty.
I have never liked him.
Made even worse because he is the Turin based official.
Roma are a good team and we will need to perform well at the back to stop them scoring. Not sure if they will have Mancini back. Hope not.
Would be happy with a draw, even happier witha clean sheet and the hernanator to score the winner. _________________ It's quieter than a church before the crowds arrive.

Crespo always scores against us. Hopefully he will get only 1 while Totti will have 2

Grande Capitano
Mancio
I'll refrain from further comments on Roberto until after the return, as obviously he was thinking more about that match than this one against Roma.
