As of next week I'll be in Italy for a couple of weeks. I'll be in Florence for a couple of days at the end of the week/weekend when there is no league matches due to the international games and again the following weekend. As such I'm looking to go to the Fiorentina V Atalanta match. How big a derby match is this? Will I be able to buy tickets when I'm in town the week before/on the day?

Any advice about where to go for the best matchday experience in and outside of the ground etc much appreciated.

Cheers

Fiorentina v Atalanta isn't a derby at all, fella.

Tickets should be relatively easy to come by. Firstly, try the the Toto booth on Piazza della Republica on the Tuesday prior to the game (try and get there as early as possible, between 8:00am-9:00am is a good slot).

In the unlikely event that you find yourself near the stadium prior to match day, you can try either Bar Maresi or Bar Stadio. I can't remember what street Stadio is on, but Maresi is on Via Manfredo Fantini, right opposite the main stand.

If you find yourself unsuccessful with any of the above, there's always the touts outside the ground. Expect to pay at least a 50% mark-up on the ticket price though.

Inside the ground, the Curva Fiesole is the place to be but you'll never find a spare ticket. I've always found myself in the Maratona or the Curva Ferrovia, both of which provide great views.

Best of luck with the ticket hunt!

Good result tonight. Kuzmanovich seems to be doing well already, I look forward to seeing him when C5 get round to showing a Fiorentina game.
Speaking of which, saw their coverage for the 1st time on Sunday, not exactly the best presenters, pundits or commentators but at least it's back on terrestrial TV.

A fair result tonight.. a bit unlucky not to pull it out late with the upright getting in the way. Nice little move by Santana on the equalizer.

Hi everyone ~ maybe you can give me some help? I'm hoping to bring a group to Firenze in Feb, coincides with the Milan match, could I contact the club or any other suggestions re reserving a block of tickets? probably 20 or 25 of us (womens football team) would be a great thrill if we could go.

ok thanks - we'll be arriving on the saturday and leaving monday so it would be great to get it organised in advance. I'll let ye know if we make it in.
Oh! How soon are the match days & times fixed? as in, how soon do we know whether a game is saturday/sunday afternoon/evening? I've been to a few games in Rome & Milan but the day has never been a concern for me before.
Sorry for the noobie questions but there's not a whole pile of info out there re Fiorentina. Thanks again

It is usually about two weeks before the matches that TV games are sorted out.

Check this link http://www.lega-calcio.it/eng/atim_calendario.shtml closer to the time for confirmation of the exact date and time. As the game is in early February there aren't any Champions League or UEFA Cup matches to mess things around.

Come back for anything else you want to know, there are a few Viola fans on here.

I was quite disappointed that we weren't able to put Atalanta away on Sunday.

We seem to be scoring enough bearing in mind the absence of Toni, but it seems like the defence is lacking somewhat this year.

Don't think Vanden Borre has been given much of a run out so far, maybe now's the time? Pasqual and AVB bombing down the flanks sounds pretty good to me if Donadel is prepared to run back and cover the defence more often than he's been doing recently.

I think there's a real chance that we could nick a Champions League spot this year along with Milan, Roma and Inter, but consistency early on in the season is key.

I thought VDB would go straight in to the team. I'm pretty sure he had been a first choice at Anderlecht since the age of 16.

4th spot is a distinct possibility, Lazio haven't started great and neither have Juve. I'd still like to see us try and win the Uefa Cup, Bayern aside there aren't any teams for us to fear, of course we'll have to see who drops down from the Champions League later on.

Does anyone know much about Osvaldo? I know he was at Lecce on loan from Atalanta last season, but that's about it.

Great result tonight against Livorno with Osvaldo bagging a couple.

Second in the table, perhaps Five will take notice of us now and show at least one of our f**king games this season...

Hi guys,Calcioro in the past here. Seens better design and confortable view here.

I am still a bit worried about Pazzini as he has scored only 1 goal in 6 weeks and the center forward's very important in our tactics.I have high expectation of him and i think he can make it but luck is not on his side now.

Osvaldo recalls me the memory of Reginaldo as they shined in their debut and both play in flanks with nice dribbling skills. It seems Osvaldo has better finishing but his speed and cross weren't shown last night. Should be an ideal replacement once Mutu can't contribute to the team.

haha ,finve points heading Milan and 2 points behind Inter now.Kiss our 2nd second seat and maybe the first place later.Since the mid-table teams and lower-table teams could be a strong obstacle with Milan and Juventus are not in their best form,to be serious,we could challedge for Scudetto this season.

Terrific win yesterday. Osvaldo looks good, two fantastic finishes. We've got a terrific array of talent upfront, although I'd agree with Masson that Pazzini's lack of goals is slightly worrying, though I'm sure he'll come good. It'll be interesting to see the side Prandelli picks for the Juve game.

Fiorentina v Juventus, live on Five next weekend. It's gonna be the first weekend in my new flat, can't think of a better way to spend it.

I'm very surprises as we are on the verge of being eliminated tonight. With playing at home massacre was expected for me but we resorted to kick them out by penalty. After the first round,i'm a bit worried about the future of our European road on the ground that we couldn't finish Groningen which stayed in the mid-table of Dutch League in 90 minutes.

What's up with the other Italian teams in UEFA CUP????sorry to see them being elimilated....

Scraped through last night. Obviously hope we get more home games than away in the groups. Also hope we get drawn with Aberdeen.
