il ferret, just found my copy of said magazine you were looking for. Not having utilised all the tools on this site yet I will try and get your details via an onsite message in order to post it.
Otherwise maybe Myles would help on that front.
I have flicked through it to make sure it is free of any food debris or worse (pubescents) as it was kicking around my bedroom for a while. Am I putting you off yet ?

In the menu on the top of the page (under the banner), if you click on You have no new messages link, you can send a private message to another member, it's kind of like email. The pm's can't be viewed by me or any of the admins or mods, so they're totally private.

The clocks go back this weekend, which means that BST becomes GMT (I think).

Thanks lads.

I'll send a bcc (blind carbon copy) email to all users on Sunday, with instructions on how to change the time-zone in their profile. It's simple but ...

Did anyone watch Spurs v Getafe on the telly last week? I'm sure the commentator said at one point the Getafe manager played in a North London derby for Arsenal. Can anyone remember if this is true or was I daydreaming?

Michael Laudrup didn't play in a London derby as far as I know, since I don't recall him playing for a British club, let alone Arsenal. His brother may have done - but he was a Chelsea player (albeit it very briefly). Brian would also have played in a few Auld Firm derbies, so perhaps the commentator was alluding to this??

Just looked on Getafe's website and their assistant manager is John Jensen, the old fuzzy haired Dane - it must have been him. I was not really watching the game but had it on and must have missed the word "assistant".

The Mezz is due to gain a wedge of cash before the end of this year and is going to book a long-overdue holiday for January / February.

Trouble is, where should he (and the bird) go?

I'd recommend Hong Kong - fly oasishongkong.com for under £300 each return, and everything's pretty cheap out there. I went in February this year with my redundancy cash which was just right - 25 degrees plus, but not too humid. Loads to do there and the tsingtao and pork buns are magical

That time of year, I'd take it Europe's out and as you've got cash you might as well go further. Thailand? Mexico? Brazil? (Salvador's supposed to be dead good and you might catch the arse end of the carnaval in Rio?)

Too right Mezz, Go the furthest away place of interest your money will take you!

I'm trying to decide between Madrid and Paris for a city break early next year. Does anyone know what to do once I'm there? I hear Madrid has a great night life.

Oh and no I can't take in a game, I'll prob be there midweek. Does anyone know if they do stadium tours?

I've been Paris too many times so I'd say go to Madrid. And yes they do have stadium tours:

Madrid's pretty cool, but might be a bit nippy and wet in winter. The food and drink (as with all places) is the best thing about Madrid. Find a tapas bar near the Plaza Mayor and get blootered on San Miguel while eating pigs trotters in cider. There are 3 world-class art galleries there if you're into that kinda thing. If you're there midweek you might get a champs league/uefa cup/copa del rey match. Getafe's in Madrid and they're still in uefa cup. If you get bored, a day trip to Toledo is worth it. And don't bother with the metro - it's shit. Taxi's are cheap and much quicker. There's a good brothel there too called Chelsea!

Thailand is fantastic for ladyboys. And if you fancy a bit of young Arab cock then I would recommend Tangier.

The bird has been banging on about going to Hong Kong for a while now as a good friend of hers (and former colleague of mine) is working out there and has invited us over. For some reason though, I really don't fancy Hong Kong as it doesn't appeal in the slightest.

I lived in Thailand for six months back in the late 90's, so that one's off the list.

Mexico has crossed my mind, and Brazil I hadn't thought about yet so 'obrigado' for that one, Ferret.

So far, my list consists of Vancouver, Miami, New York, Lisbon, Copenhagen, Valetta, Barcelona and now Salvador...

Hong Kong's fantastic - what doesn't appeal about it?
I went to both Barcelona and Lisbon last year and they're both lovely - Barca's a bit chavvy these days, but Lisbon's dead good and you'd be the only Brits there. Good cakes too. Have a read on my facebook page about 48 hours in Lisbon.
Copenhagen's ok, but nothing special.
Valetta - never been, but how about a mammoth trip for a bit of culture: Fly into Naples, see Vesuvius, Capri etc, then get overnight ferry to Palermo seeing Stromboli on the way, get over to Etna and Catania, boat it to Malta and then fly out of Valetta.

How about Buenos Aires Mezz? Apparently it's one of the loveliest cities on earth. I've never been but a friend of mine is going there in January and is really really looking forward to it.

No specific reason, just doesn't interest me at all. From what I've read and been told it seems fairly similar to Bangkok and I've done the 'eastern city trying to be a western city' thing already.

Sounds a bit too much like hard work to me. I despise airport transfers alone (which kinda rules out Bueno Aires and Salvador, I suppose) never mind trying to fit in as many destinations as possible in one holiday.

We're not all frustrated Rough Guides journalists, fella!
