As Myles has pointed out in the Forza Inter! thread, those who own and operate the Calcio Italia magazine and main Football Italia site had absolutely nothing to do with the moderation of the C4 forum.
The people at Calcio Italia have been invited on board by Myles and will post news links to the Football Italia website on our respective threads, just as we saw on the C4 forum.
In all honesty, there wasn't a lot wrong with the Football Italia site / magazine and it's fantastic news that they've joined us.
Make them feel welcome!

The question is though, will they link to us instead of the C4 forum!
Then the revolution will be complete.

I frankly can't see why calcioitalia.co.uk still carry the channel 4 logo? Further to that the very prescence of any reference to channel 4 or their logo on this site offends me. They have nothing to do with and have had nothing to do with Italian Football in terms of broadcasting for ages and tried their damned best to suppress the fuel of our passion on a forum which they moderated.
I respect the invite and the news value that calcioitalia.co.uk can offer the non Italian reading calcio fan. . . . its just when I click on the link and see that logo it makes my blood boil.
p.s I actualli have no problem with Ch 4 as a broacaster I think they do a pretty good job. But let's break this historic link they have to OUR game. Can't we do them under the trade description act?

I know what you mean, basically though i'd settle for a forum the same as C4's except without those moderators.
I suppose that's what the purpose of this forum was to me anyway. We don't need those C4 mods, or adverts, but basically the same thing otherwise.
But as i said, that's my idea of it, but it's the members' forum so whatever the masses want, that's what gets done.

Important now to ensure this forum grows. Let's face it when you Google 'Italian Football Forum' there is no sign of this place. It is all well and good attracting the occasional refugee from the old forum but we need to attract from elsewhere too. This place has had a good start but I'd be interested in what are the future plans.

I might be way off target here but I don't think there are any specific growth plans on the go at the moment.
This forum was possibly set up more in hope than anticipation that it would take off, but almost 90 members in just over 2 months is a great start.
Myles has repeatedly stated that this is our forum, so any suggestions or ideas that any other members have to offer would be extremely welcome I'm sure.
I don't think that Calcio Italia linking to this forum rather than the C4 forum is a realistic scheme, but it would certainly contribute to the type of expansion you're on about Gio. _________________ ACF FIORENTINA : FORZA LA VIOLA

I have no problem with Channel 4's logo or association. True, they mishandled the coverage but they could have easily dropped the website too. And a quality one it is too! Apart from the odd dodgy headline. Could do with an RSS feed for those like that sort of thing (or is there one there? I don't see any obvious links). And the blog expansion is a good idea. Be nice if they could become independent though, and link to this foro. That'd be beautiful. _________________ L'uomo tigre

Both domains - footballitalia.myfastforum.org and www.calcio-italiano.com - were submitted to google about 5 weeks ago...
I've resubmitted to Yahoo! ...after reading how to get the forum pushed up the rankings.
Unless either of the domains gets onto the first page of search 'football italia forum' or 'italian football forum' , it'll be a failed exercise.

The footballitalia.myfastforum.org has be added to the MSN, but like Yahoo and most importantly google (50% of the market share), the search engine spiders (i.e. bots) have not yet crawled the forum. Until MSN, Yahoo and google crawl the forum, the forum will not get a high ranking.
That's why if you type, 'italian football forum' into MSN search, the forum only appears on the second page. When the 'spiders' crawl the forum hopefully it'll appear on the first page.
Though, if you type 'football italia forum' into MSN search, it is ranked number 1, and C4 forum is number 2.
The more updates on a forum, the more regular the spiders crawl the forum, so hopefully we'll be above the C4 forum when they do actually crawl our forum.

I've requested the web team for the Football Italia website to consider linking to us instead of the C4 forum.
Unlikely, but no harm in asking!

Don't they have the slight problem that their site is hosted on a C4.com address? I imagine that C4 will be delighted (although it should be noted that the link on the C4FI pages links to the old foro address which has been out of use for - five?six? - years) for someone using a C4 URL to point people to a rival site...
Not that I'm against the idea, you understand - merely that C4 would probably be very irritated indeed. But if the contract with C4 is coming to an end...

I know, it gives them something to think about anyway.
I suggested it to them for consideration.

- What are members opinions (issues) on putting the following banner on the forum, perhaps in the header somewhere.
- And where would you prefer the banner? Top-left/right? etc.

Imo, It's a handy feature as opposed to an advert.

I've got no problems with this being at the top somewhere, saves me having to go back to the old forum for the link as I'm too lazy to add it as a favourite! Not too big though. Could also do a link to the C5 blog.

Good idea. On the right would be better I think.
On a side note, I'm not happy with the annoying BT ad that hovers over the text you're trying to read with a close button that doesn't work until you've clicked it about 6 times. _________________ L'uomo tigre

I assume you are referring to the C4 site, because there should be no ads on this forum, pop-up or otherwise.
