I notice it's already out on Xbox and PS3. Has anyone played it? Is it better than Pro 6?

I have played the demo on the 360. Not a great deal of difference to note, other than that (thankfully) Adriano isn't quite as good as on Pro Evo 6.

Has anyone any idea when its being released on the trusty old PSII?

I'm not in any rush to buy it. I just wanna know when to log on and read some reviews. I still think PES 4 had the best game engine.

I played on PC but with some Russian patch where all players from new season are added...

Juve is better that in ordinary PES as Almiron and Iaquinta added weight to the squad...Del Piero is bad but Trezeguet is better...

From other teams, Real is solid with Sneider and Drenthe...

Ronaldo isnt fast as usual...and Kaka isnt special...

When I think better Manchester United is best team...

Nowdays I play more ofter PES classic with teams from the past...of course Juventus 95 - 98 is best team around although Milan with Basten and Gullit is also great...

I but didnt find classic PES for PS2, so playing at PC...

Erm, no it's not.

It's released on all formats except Wii on October 26th, the Wii version is due March 2008.

FIFA 08 was released yesterday, perhaps you meant that?

Hmmm, FIFA. Am I write in saying that Pro Evo is still regarded (by most players) as the better of the two footy games?

I'd been collecting the FIFA series since 1994 (bought it first on my Sega 16MB) then moved to Pro Evo in 2003 because the game engine played better.

I'm just wondering wheher it night be worth me giving FIFA a play again as the Pro Evo series hasn't improved much in the last few years.

I'm looking forward to the promise of an improved AI on this year's Pro Evo. I feel that on PES6 every goal I score is the same, as it exposes the AI's weaknesses over and over again.

The whole FIFA-PES debate is quite amusing now. In the past FIFA was the arcade game and PES the simulation. FIFA fanboys always stated that their game was best because it was just more fun and PES was boring 0-0 midfield battles, PES fanboys said their game was like a real game of footy unlike the sprint/shoot 7-6 games of FIFA. Now FIFA is the simulation and PES the arcade game and low and behold the FIFA fanboys are praising it's patient passing game, tight tactical 2-1 games while the PES boys are slagging it for being too difficult to score in and loving PES's ultra fast sprint everywhere gameplay and scoring five 30 yard screamers a game. By rights all the FIFA fanboys should be buying PES2008 and all the PES fanboys buying FIFA 08 going on their previous arguements. Just proves that you'll buy your chosen brand regardless.

Personally I've always been a PES man because I like the whole simulation instead of arcade thing. I like closely fought games where a decent passing game and earning your goals is more important than dribbling half the field and scoring with every shot. But having played both demos it was the FIFA one that I kept going back to, and I bought the full game and haven't put it down since.

I've not cancelled my PES pre-order - yet. Apparently the final version of PES has been slowed down so that may help. But I have to hold my hands up and say that, at long long last, FIFA has cracked it this year.

I've got it today, but I've not done a lot yet. The match engine feels quite like PES6 in first impressions, with any changes being subtle. I'm going to need to play a bit more to see how much the "teamvision" AI has changed things.

In my first game, as usual I played with Juventus against Inter and won 5-3 after extra time. The fact they had 10 men probably heavily influenced the result, as well as the fact Ibrahimovic ( ) tore me to shreads whenever he got the ball. I won in the end though thanks to Iaquinta's extra time double.

The commentary, despite the change in commentators (Why Mark Lawrenson? ) still seems to contain all the phrases Brackley and Brooking churned out for the past 3 years, but I'd say it's improved with some new comments which make it feel more realistic. Other than that the only changes seem to be more crappy Pro Evo music.

Just spent a few hours playing it. It's pretty similar to Pro Evo 6, improvements inculde better direction on through balls and better free kicks.

I kept playing Chelsea with various team (since I love beating them!), but we kept playing with a blue ball which was a bit off-putting, is this a permanent thing?

I don't usually bother with the edit functions. Tomorow I'l check out the international sides.

Overall for the 22quid I paid fo it, it's certainly worth it.

I've done the same, bought FIFA after hearing some good reviews from other PES fans and have enjoyed the new challenge. It's by no means perfect but allows for some good passing and movement and through balls, while PES has moved more towards dribbling, based around button press-skill moves; only thing I'm not sure of is the crossing.

Good also that you have a wide range of leagues available (especially now Charlton are in the CCC), plus it's nice to hear real chants like 'Ole ole ole, Inter,' 'Red Army,' etc.Do have to play without the commentary though.

They've added the Artemio Franchi
but removed Old Trafford

You can change the ball in the match settings before the match. That daft blue ball is the default.

Nice one FF.

I actually do prefer this commentary to PES6 although it's natural to get bored of all phrases after playing it a few months.
I do find the scream of OPPURTUNITY! a tad anoying.

After playing a few more matches I have to say the AI is improved, as I'm finding it harder to score goals. Movement off the ball also seems better, and should lead to better quality football, rather than the predictable stuff you churned out on the last game.

I'm also noticing a larger difference between attribute points which should make the better players stand out more.
