Some rules were brought about to make it easier for the markers and some rules were brought about due to people complaining either way (i.e. someone complaining that they didn't score, or someone complaining that the score was given).
Some rules were brought about so people would know where to post them!
Some rules were brought about so people would know how they are scored!
Some rules were brought about so people would know what happens when a match is abandoned, postponed etc (as happens every season).
Some rules were brought about to accommodate people going on holidays.
Some rules were brought about so people would know what happens when there is a tie-break.
Some rules were brought about so people couldn't pull a fast one by saying the forum wasn't working to cover up the fact that they were just plain late.
Almost all rules were brought about people complaining.
Why didn't any of you bring up your issue with the 1, 2 and X before the season started???
So there are 3 options open to people who don't want to play with rules:
- You mark and compile the table for this game without any rules (if Liam and/or Juvefans don't want to mark the scores with no rules, i will get back to you with their decision).
- You have your own game separate.
- You propose a rule change and shut up talking crap (or in Ferri's case, shut the f**k up talking crap)
Either option, i don't care. It's totally your choice Ferri, Bobo32, and il ferret. You can let me know of your decision if you want, if not, i don't give a shit.
il ferret, regarding your comment in your week 2 points thread, what do you call these in the first post in this thread? Guidelines???

Fair enough myles, we'll just have to agree to disagree! I thought it was a bit harsh, but I don't mark/compile etc so I'll shut the fcuk up

"Why didn't any of you bring up your issue with the 1, 2 and X before the season started???"
In week 1, I posted my predictions using H, D and A. In week 2, I was posting my predictions quickly, because I didn't have a lot of time. I reverted to 1, 2 and X without thinking, because that is the standard way of indicating home win, away win or draw. It's the system bookies use, it's the system the football pools use, it's the system used in newspapers, and it's the system used in Totocalcio in Italy. I actually don't know anywhere other than this site where H, D and A is used in preference to 1, 2 and X.
It's your game and it's your choice which system you use, but I think you will find that newcomers in a rush are likely to use 1, 2 and X instinctively. So, I suppose it's a question of how much you want new people to join the game, and how welcoming or accomodating you're prepared to be.
To be honest, I get the impression you don't really want new people to join anyway. I know this game, and this forum, has been around for years, and most people who post here are regulars going back a long time. That's great, but some of the attiude on here is probably a reason why this is now the second most popular calcio forum in the UK. Which is a shame, because if this is linked to the mag, this is the forum I'd like to use.
Whatever - good luck with your predictions for week 3. I wonder how many will be brave enough to put an 'H' next to Roma-Reggina?

I said it looked like the kind of game that took itself too seriously for my taste.

I've been doing the marking for a few seasons now and the 1,2,X rule has never once caused a problem before. Myself I'm used to the H,D,A system we've used since this competition was started as a casual game several years ago, therefore when marking it is easier for me if we use this system which I am used to.
Romanista, the rules aren't hard to understand, and are made clear at the start of each season. No one else has had a problem respecting this rule, and no one else has flagged it up as one they want altering, so it stands. _________________ Forza Juve!!!

Fair enough.
This is a separate game so we use a different system. Just like i wouldn't use H, D and A if i was playing any of the those other games you mentioned, so i wouldn't use 1, 2 and X playing this game.

It's not that we aren't welcoming to new players, it's just a different system.

Firstly, the administraion of this game and the forum itself are totally separate roles.
As regards the attitude towards new people joining this game, i'm not sure where you get that from, as in the Marcello Chicarella Championship 08/09 (SERIE A PREDICTIONS) thread it tells new players what to do and provides links. the rules are more for new players joining than anyone else since people who have played before know how the game works, so i would regard posting the rules at the start of every season as accommodating to new players.
If you didn't want to appeal i've no problem with that at all, it was entirely your decision.
The attitude of people comparing it to a political conflict, laughing at it or comparing it to C4 mods is poor in my opinion, especially when they are just as responsible for the rules from saying nothing up to now. The rules were done on suggestions from players over the years, just as much as the different markers and table compilers over the years.
As regards the forum, calciouk are more popular as they have been around for a lot longer than this particular url link, they had their forum promoted in the Calcio Italia magazine, most likely for free as it wasn't an advert but a suggestion from the magazine. Obviously our url link is not easily memorised or catchy, something which i am discussing with the server provider at the moment, to convert to a different domain name without actually loosing all the posts and members' registrations while also keeping the ranking no.1 in google, msn and yahoo search. This will be put to the members' in due course as it's every members' forum so the members' will decide. If you or anyone else have any ideas as to how we can generate more active members i certainly would appreciate those ideas. The attitude of other forums is usually the decisions are exclusive to the admin or admins is of the forum, whereas this forum features and design is always from the opinions of the members' as the forum only exists due to their members so you give them what they want.

Sorry if I've caused any conflict. I'll try and rejoin the game next week and see if I can catch up.

No need to be sorry Romanista as you merely just stated that you didn't want to appeal, as you're fully entitled to state. Your other opinions were important to highlight so we can guage what people are thinking and give a response.
I only had an issue with the reactions from the others, who knew the reasons already, but perhaps just liked stirring it.
