Cavendish upset the press in France and this was an opportunity to punish him - very unfair as it was no different to any other sprint finish.
Disappointing to see Armstrong struggle yesterday, brought back memories of Indurain, although at least Armstrong still looks good for a podium finish, third behind Contador and Wiggins??

They do make an awesomely good single every so often and are probably great live, but I just can't seem to like them.

Fantastic win against the Aussies in the Lord's Test. And Swann took 4 important wickets which shows how much I know!

Yes, I thought getting Hussey out with a wide was particularly inspired piece of bowling. Quite how Pup missed that full toss I'll never know. It was all in the "drift", according to the TMS brigade. I think he'll get carted at Egbasten.
Obviously I've invested in an Australian series victory and have become a de facto tiresome whingeing Aussie. Quite how that cheating dog Strauss can show his face is a mystery. If he genuinely thought he'd caught that slip catch off Hughes, then my name is Greg Norman.
I find all the English hysteria over winning one match very entertaining. If they ever do lose a toss and suffer umpires who use their eyes more than their ears, I think England will be brought back to earth with a bump and we'll see the returno of the "England are a disgrace" headlines.

Well, Mr Norman, nice to see you back...
In truth I was mildly puzzled at Strauss's comprehension of the laws of physics/the game of cricket with that catch, and there were some umpiring oddities.
I see that Pietersen is out for the rest of the series and the 'plucky' (a term which can easily be spelt 'useless' after his next two innings) Ian Bell is back in...
Unless Johnson sorts out his bowling and Hughes remembers that he came over here to familiarise himself with the English conditions rather than our glorious tradition of throwing the opener's wicket away cheaply, Aus might struggle a bit more yet. Lee will need to be firing on all cylinders to make up for some of the dross sent down for the English batsmen to feed off.

Yes, great news about KP. Without KP, I think England will become over-reliant on English players and that strategy hasn't worked since Ray Illingworth's day.
I agree that Oz could do with a revitalised Johnson, but don't forget he bowled rubbish in Cardiff and Australia very nearly slaughtered England there. I'll be surprised if Lee plays in the next Test as he hasn't bowled a ball for about 3 weeks. The boy I'd really like to see is Stuart Clark. He destroyed England in the 5-0, taking 23 wickets at an average of 17. The word seems to be though that he's "lost his nip". Sounds nasty.

The blessing might be that Bell pushes Bopara further down. I think both sides are ordinary. The difference being that in Test matches, bowlers win you games, and England's attack is marginally better than the Aussies.
I agree though, but for Flintoff's brilliance, there is nothing for England fans to get too excited about.

Apart from beating Australia at Lords for the first time since 1934.
So George how much do you stand to lose if Australia lose the Ashes?

The English attack certainly looked better than Australia's at Lord's but it didn't at Cardiff. It's dangerous to assume that England will continue where they left off in the next test. I haven't seen post-Test euphoria like that over the Lord's test since the Oval in 2005 and it took England almost 4 years to recover from that particular high!!! I presume Freddy won't spend the next week in a drunken haze, but I'll be very surprised (not to say miffed) if he maintains his Lord's form throughout the series. My feeling is that England have had peaked again and will have to wait another 4 years to go potty again, invoking "the spirit of 2005".
Against that though, I think Egbasten is Freddy's favourite ground as he can bowl beamers aimed at the top of the stumps that the batsmen don't pick up. It's a disgraceful and very dangerous tactic, but it's mighty effective!
As regards the batting, It think Bell is competent, but the best thing about KP's injury is that Bopara will keep his place. Hopefully Onions' gift wickets will keeps Harmy out of the team too.
I'll lose a ton if Aus fail to win (at evens), but I remain confident in Ricky and the boys to come good. I've had a bumper year gambling-wise, mainly thanks to Iniesta, Messi, Xavi and co, so I won't be carted off to the poor house whatever happens.

Totally don't know what that's all about.
Did it used to be a TV programme or something? _________________ "melo-momo and the crazy little trio behind amauri are amazing" - Gurjio 28-10-09

Bill Clinton!
....brought two freed US female journalists out of North Korea earlier today.
Well, who better to go and pick up a couple of chicks? Rumors that traces of Mr Clinton's DNA have been found on the two journalists' clothes appear to be unfounded, however.

Does anyone know any good restaurants in the Picadilly/Green Park area? Want to have a nice lunch! ANy help would be appreciated as my restaurant knowledge in London is extremely poor. _________________ Sonia is wondering why she can't find a profile pic which is less than 63kb in her gallery?!
