With the exception of not being anti-Shearer, all of the above applies in my rationale for why New-Cassul's demise wouldn't sadden me.
Only one thing commends their survival to me, and that is that should they stay up, Sir Bobby Robson will die with his beloved side still in the Premiership, and I'd tolerate another season of preposterous, whining over-expectation on the part of the large (both in numbers and/or waist size) fan base if it meant that Robson departed this mortal coil content.
(Of course, Sir Bobby, being a tough old sort, will probably defy the Grim Reaper for longer than Newcastle can survive the reality that the fan-driven managerial revolving door means that they'll never get anyone to address their main reason for underachivement, namely the fact that too many of their players are old, injured, or crap - and in some cases all three - to enable them to survive in the Prem.)

All the bullshit around somehow having a right to be in the top half. Even at their absolute peak in the '90's they were ultimately losers, so why on earth their fans should keep banging on about winning trophies etc like its owed to them is moronic.
Plus, the way Bobby Robson was treated etc etc.
Oh and Bowyer and Barton played for them.

Gotta say what a rubbish end of the english season that was.
Only unresolved issues were relegation and Europe.
4 teams in danger of being relegated, all get beaten.
2 teams going for Europe both lose too.
Quite pathetic really.

Back to 13'000 at home I hope!
As happy as that's made me, Scunthorpe beating Millwall after coming from behind was even funnier. Today has restored my faith in football.

In my case, for these reasons:
| Morfeo wrote: | | Newcastle United and their supporters would be scattered haphazardly across the Solar System if it were up to me. Funny how the passionate Geordies - football's a religion up there, Brian, etc etc - produced an average attendance of 16,879 in 1990/91. I assume finishing 11th in the old Division 2 isn't mere coincidence. All of a sudden, when Newcastle played in the top flight in 93/94, having spent four seasons in the division below (in two of which they finished 20th and 11th) their average attendance jumped into the 30,000s for the first time since 76/77. |
| Morfeo wrote: | Newcastle United have absolutely plastic fans. Any sports journo or commentator churning out cliches to the contrary should be put down, as they are wasting perfectly good air. By contrast, Manchester United's average attendance during the 27 years they failed to win a championship was below 40,000 in only four seasons (one of which in 92/93 when they finally won the title again - reduced capacity due to Stretford End made all-seater). The season they were in Division 2 (74/5), average was 48.389.

 at Alan Shearer.
Newcastle's "amazing" fans are incredibly overrated. Half of them will disappear next season. _________________ Forza Juve!!!

They still think Shearer's the best man for the job. Didn't they see how awful they were and how little fight there was against Villa in the 2nd half? How can they think that had nothing to with Shearer??
Relegation to League 1 beckons.

How will Man Utd reinvest £80m?
The wise choice would be to use half of it to wipe debts which are going to be a problem going forward. then £40m plus what they would have had otherwise = wow.
Presumably an A. Mid is a priority. _________________ http://bringtheparty.blogspot.com/

I would now think that Tevez is a priority signing, while Antonio Valencia will also join!Fergie might not go for any major signing, although i'd advise him to snap up Benzema or Pogrebnyak

Only someone who's seen Tevez play on TV alone would think he's a priority signing.
He runs his arse off, no doubt, but his shooting is woeful and he's not particularly blessed in the technical department.
He turned a handful of games when he came off the bench last season, mainly because he ran about the gaff like a blue arsed fly and frightened the opposition (and probably some of his team mates, and some of the fans too), but in terms of points earned he's only slightly ahead of Macheda who cost us next to f**k-all.
Tevez scored a few important goals over his two years at Man United, granted, but I would personally be furious if we paid anywhere near £25M for him.
£5M on top of the £10M we've already paid to his Iranian pimp would be palatable, but only just... _________________ ACF FIORENTINA : FORZA LA VIOLA

Bit late to be furious about the financial goings on at United now, matey.
Tevez is no Messi, but he's a good player and if the Ferg thinks Berbatov is worth £30 million, I'm sure he's aware that Tevez is worth £25 million. GIggsy can't terrify defences as he did in the CL final forever.

I would be quite happy if Tevez turns up at another Premier League club - that would mean that Vidic could boot the f**k out of him at least twice a season. _________________ ACF FIORENTINA : FORZA LA VIOLA

You're not one of the overwhelming majority of United supporters who were desperate to keep him at McTrafford then _________________ For sale: Set of second-hand Dachshund stabilizers, a child's Paul Simon costume, a set of windmill Top Trumps, £45 in used fivers, a 'Diana Convoy' Scalextric set and a set of nested bunk beds that sleeps eighteen progressively smaller people.
