I want to see us keep things Italian. Look at where journeymen stranieri have gotten us in the past - Esnaider, Athirson, Van Der Sar, etc.

Woo!  made my day that!

Now all I need is the Aquilani and Quaresma links to come true

I'll drive Zebina to Turkey, even though I can't drive.

I remember Terry Venables, then a Leeds United coach, saying something similar in connexion with Olivier Dacourt's boast/desire of a move to Roma a few years ago.

Zebina still has his followers among the tifosi. That siad the number of his admirers is falling faster than Coldplay's reputation. The media has us linked with an unfeasably large number of defenders, the latest of which is the 31 year old Siena back four player Doria.

I think it is realized by most Juventus fans that what we really need is Zapata. When will Secco and Blanc realize this and just do what is necessary to achieve this objective?

Meanwhile I'm confused as to the state of play in connexion with the attempts being made to sign Xabi Alonso. Is the deal floundering because:-

a) Xabi has changed his mind
b) Liverpool have upped their price
c) Secco/Blanc now prefer an alternative (Senna/Arda Turan and say half a dozen others
d) None of the above.

Xabi situation is (as I understand it):

a)he still wants to come and has signed a pre-contract (worth nothing at this stage though)
b) Liverpool and Juve are stuck at the price neither will budge
c) They are looking for alternatives (Senna and Turan seem to be faves bcos they are cheaper but Juve are also trying for Aquilani if they are going to spend that much on Xabi)
d) Secco is a moron

Gurjio thanks for that. I read today in Corriere dello Sport that Blanc and the Cda are on the Xabi case today. So, if the price remains deadlocked, I guess that will be the end of that and, as you surmise, an effort is made to move forward with either Aquilani, Turan or Senna.

Meanwhile, news that Trez will be staying is welcome. Just as good is the news that the Cda have acknowledged the revulsion of the tifosi caused by their lunatic attempt to sign Stankovic resulting in the curtailment of this sad episode.

Looking now at the overall picture, the attacking midfield still needs strengthening in the area currently occupied by Nedved. This important matter still needs to be addressed as does hte fourth back four player.

That said, things now progressing it seems.

As far as I know board of merda gave green light to Secco and Blanc to go ahead in negotiation with Stankovic.

If Inter cut transfer demands we are in trouble...or better, Stankovic is in trouble...

Ranieri for two years, then hopefully Lippi when he's finish with the Azzurri, so in three years we'll have the Champions League and get to three finals in a row.

 Marco and Gurjio

Not too bad here.... just been way too busy with stuff recently...never seeming to find time to pop back onto my old stomping ground that is this thread...how you been?

...still been following Juve as closely as ever though.

Yup heard about Stankovic.... Noooooooo!!!!!

Thought we had a nice solid first season back in Serie A... went  out to see a game in January... the one v samp in turin... had to be the worst game I have ever attended in my life... awful.. but was good to see our new temp home... but all accounts it’s a nice compact stadium... and easily accessible via tram from the centre...

Some interesting signings over the last 12 months or so.... Amiron and Tiago being the biggest let downs ever.... Andrade getting injured way too early to be judgible... Iaquinta has done alright coming in and out of the side... Sissoko I think was a great signing,..and he is getting better every game he plays... he's going to be a fixture in there for a while....

Need some creativity in the centre with sissoko... Alonso? not sure what to make of this... I have seen him run games from midfield with some great passing,.. but not sure he can do it on a regular basis...  I'd love them to sign Aquilani... he seems to be the future of the nazionale and maybe Juve can mould him into a more creative player that both Juve and the nazionale need?

Up front... Amauri was a great signing...on form... I just hope that his form is a little more permanent then say...Almiron... who clearly was a flash in the pan.... hoping Amauri is the real deal.

Must say...in my absence from this foro, I've grown to love trezza! The man is back in love with Juve and delivering those goals regularly.... but what do you chaps make of near £20 mill offers for him from Barca? as much as he's won me over.... that's pretty good money for a chap his age?? and  with Amuari already there.. .maybe be we can sign one for the future... Huntelaar perhaps??

Good to see Giovinco back in Turin too.... this boy's the real deal... forget talk of the likes of cassano... Giovinco is the future of Juve and Italy.

God I'm blabbering on here.... one last thought for the national side... they were that good a team this time around.... but those limitations weren't helped by the moronic selections of donadoni.. a man that was way outta his depth and should never have been appointed in the first instance... hell bent on not picking ADP ahead of the likes of Di Natale and Cassano... what the hell did they do for Italy in the euro's or Serie A that the top scorer in Serie A didn't?.... then not having the ball to drop a clearly lost Luca Toni...man that guy didn't have a clue... I thought he missed a hatful in the world cup... he only went on to prove that he blows even more on the national stage then I thought,... and to top it all off...playing perrotta behind the strikers?!!!!!  the man deserved the sack just for that alone.

Anyhoo, nothing personal Donadoni clearly is a nice guy...a good decant chap and all that jazz.... but that means nothing when you such at your job. sorry just the way it is.

Still some good came from the euro's chiellini really grew into that central role in the defence... that should be good for the nazionale and Juve for many years to come....

Any of you chaps going to the friendly at the emirates in August??

Raj the voice of reason.

3zeguet did B, he is untouchable Raj he just is.

Quaresma you old fancy is back in the running, Amauri not sure Cavenaghi, 2 years younger, was available at 6m. considering Tiago and Almiron cost....

Not convinced by Ranieri Buddy  how about you?

We need a Paulo Sosa.

Xabi is another ball winner Aquilani is a class act.

Raj im going to both days for the emirates stadium.

Dylan, Stankovic looks likely which means we wont have cash for Aquilani

we could still get Xabi, I dont want Senna, he isnt anything better than what we have.  At least Xabi will offer nice passes from the middle (yes i know about zanetti but hes in his 30s).

Raj- welcome back. You make good points...

Now, a question to all: putting aside his Inter past and the fact that he f%^cking annoys me for a number of reasons, who thinks Stancovic is a good player? I am trying to look at it objectively but need help in that arena....I think last year was crap for him but before then he has been consistently in form..plus he can score..no, he is not Vd Vart but we can not afford the latter nor Diego, and we do not have scouts in latin america apparently, so this guy may be a decent option for now...I can not believe I am thinking positive about him but oh well...am trying

Judging by the fact he's touching 30 and seemed below his best last season I'd say Stankovic is a player in decline.  Would be an utterly pointless signing who would freeze out a promising younger player like Marchisio.
