Yeah the programme was called "Click" on the BBC News Channel. I too have forgotten the name of it, it had an endorsment by Stephen Fry didn't it?

I've heard that it could happen this year as the co-efficients for both nations are quite similar now?

That's true. I think it might be the performances in Europe overall and not just the CL.

I have heard that this might be the year they lose it.

Shame as Serie A looks like finally being on the up.

The problem is the coefficients are calculated on the previous 5 years of the nations clubs in the CL and Europa cup. So while Italy accumulated many points in 2004-05 and 2005–06 they haven't picked up so many recently, as 2004-05 won't be counted in the coefficient for the next calculation Italy will drop points unless they match the 2004-05 period

yup, heard that too. could happen to scotland too (though they are worried about greece lol)..... so kinda hoping it doesn't happen

I'd blame Massimo Moratti if Italy lost a Champions League place.

I'm serious when I say that, it wasn't a jokey comment.  If Calciopoli hadn't happened, Juventus wouldn't have been out of Europe for 2 years, and poorer sides wouldn't have been in Europe instead.  The absence of Fiorentina and Lazio for a year with Chievo amongst others replacing them probably didn't help either.
