Changed the name of the thread so it refers more to the Azzurri rather than just Lippi.

It can be changed back, or changed to something else (like Forza Azzurri, for example) if needs be.

I cannot believe that Italy v Rep Ireland isn't being broadcast on TV/Satellite channel (Sky, Setanta, ITV, BBC, Eurosport)

Please, someone, tell me that I'm mistaken...

Van Basten,
Your out of luck,it's only been shown on Irish national tv,checked the sky and setanta listings and it's nowhere to be found, shame because it promises to be an interesting spectacle

This is a big day for the Irish, after our display against Bulgaria the nation is not brimming with confidence in our teams creative ability, going on past encounties with the Azzurri, games have been tight and tense,a 1-0 scoreline to either side would be my prediction.

At least Italia got the point after having Pazz wrongly sent off.  Playing with 10 men for that period of time was always going to be tough.

Still lead the group!

The mood in Ireland today is that we could have snatched a win,but satisfaction with the draw. And like everyone else we agree that Pazzini's sending off was unjust.
I'm delighted for Trapattoni, shows that he is still able to dine at the top table

Hopefully both teams will qualify for the World Cup. I have a feeling that Ireland will finish second and consequently have to qualify via the play-offs! It would be great if Scotland and N. Ireland could join them

was almost a good call, until my mate robbie popped up with the leveller.I think N.Ireland have had there purple patch, they cant afford to lose anymore of their games, don't see them going through, there is a possibility of Scotland going through though.

Interesting discussion on R5 (7-10pm and it's on the i-player) last night about the Italian game. The main topic was the poor treatment of their youth players in not playing them in their first team squads and why they are losing talent abroad. It was generally agreed that youth players are virtually ignored until about 23 and farmed out on unnessecary loan deals.

The most intersting figure was that 39 youth players left Italy for foreign teams but 350+ non italians were imported (mainly Africans) to Serie A/B teams. Anyone know more about this?
