it was always going to happen, how to Real manage to get the superstars so easily? Ronaldo will be a huge loss to the Premier League, there seems to be a shift in the best league mantle now, with La Liga now housing Kaka,Ronaldo,Messi,Xavi and possibly Ibra

I heard Sid Lowe (World Soccer's Spanish correspondent) saying Perez will have to go to the bank(s) to secure the funds. I'd love to know which bank!

From what I've gathered through various media sources, a decent amount of the money is coming from Perez himself.
He's a billionaire, so he's not short of a bob or two, but you can imagine how the merchandise streams will shoot up now that both Kaka and Ronaldo are at the club so Perez will probably think that he'll make all his investment back (and then some) prior to both player's contracts expiring.
Some columnist also drew attention to the fact that Ronaldo's a big Nike star moving to a big Adidas team - apparently this will force Nike to spend more on promoting Ronaldo to remind everyone that he's Nike's boy which in turn will raise Real Madrid's merchandising returns due to their affiliation with Ronaldo.
Can't rule out some form of 'assistance' from the Spanish government or Royal family though, can we? _________________ ACF FIORENTINA : FORZA LA VIOLA

I know Perez had to guarantee 51m to stand for election, and he is very wealthy, but then so are Berlusconi and Abramovich and they're watching their spending these days.
For the same money it cost for Kaka and C.Ronaldo you could buy Newcastle and revamp the squad! Not that you'd want to.

I was reading an article in the Irish Examiner today and apparently Real's transfer tirade is being part funded by a Catalan bank..bit of a shocker I must say

I wonder if they'll have the sense to see past buying attacking players in this new 'Galacticos' era.
Kaka and Ronaldo will definitely be interesting to see in the same team. Will be another 2 horse race next year for La Liga imo.

Oh well, as much as I like some of the individual players like Kaka it'll be funny to see them knocked out of Europe and pipped to the Spanish league title again next year. So fingers crossed for that.
A note of sad lament for Real Betis who have been relegated. one of my joint favourite teams in La Liga along with Sevilla and Barcelona. _________________ nino

They need at least three quality players (2CH 1LB) to shore up that dreadful defence. Here's hoping they neglect that side of things.

I hate everything the club stands for. Hopefully see them in the Champions league again this year...... _________________ "melo-momo and the crazy little trio behind amauri are amazing" - Gurjio 28-10-09

So, it's 'Death to the Madrid Royals' all round then, yes?
