Made me laugh when someone on the radio said he was 'a great musician and singer'. Luckily, the next person who spoke said that he was a musician was pushing it a bit. And that he wasn't even the best singer in Boyzone! Who could all sing. Not.

I did like Duncan's post, which appears to have spawned a number of jokes!

My personal favourite has to be the one comparing Gately to Ayrton Senna (which is probably too tasteless/rude even for me to post without having to ban myself for a week)

There once was a singer called Gately,
Who hasn't been singing much lately.
With a bottle of rum,
And a cock up his bum,
His night out finished quite fatally.

Can't be arsed to find links but...

Ian Wallace, broadcaster and famous for "The Hippopotamus Song", has died aged 90.

Joseph Wiseman, most famous for playing Dr. No in the film of that name, aged (I think) 93.

Norman Painting who played Phil Archer since 1950 has died aged 85.

He was at Birmingham University with my mother after the war. He saw active service in WW2 so was about three years older than her. She says he was a real nice guy. He once forgot to do an essay on Shakespeare but went to the class anyway and recited his "essay" off a blank sheet of paper. The professor congratulated him on his work and then suggested next time he write it down first. A very nice chap according to her.
