Patch was the last trench-fighting infantryman. Media largely ignore the presence of Choules.

Happened to catch a snippet of the charity game in support of the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation on the TV , and when the cameras cut to him, it was sadly clear from his appearance that he wasn't long for this world.

Sad news. He was too classy for English football.

As a geordie, it's devastating. He was like everyone's granddad, a lovely, lovely man

Very sad news.

Always came across as a likeable bloke who wasn't afraid to tell it like it is.
