Finally had an email back from Setanta, simply said they don't have the rights for Serie A.
William Hill Bet TV was quality last week for Juve-Fiorentina, good size picture unlike Bet 365 and ran smoothly. I'm sorted, Setanta can kiss my hairy white ass.

JR gave an update on the Setanta situation during yesterday's Guardian Football Weekly podcast. (It's brilliant, by the way - I highly recommend it to those of you who liked Gazzetta).
Apparently Setanta staff were told that the Serie A rights had been acquired, but the deal hadn't quite been done and dusted. JR was told that internet broadcasts of the games were a sticking point, but there's some scepticism as to whether that's true. Whatever, the important point is that negotiations are still ongoing, and the deal is by no means dead in the water.
So, there's still hope for Serie A on Setanta at some point in the near future.

Not specifically linked to TV coverage this season, but it may have some relevance in the near future...

Thanks to all. I re-subscribed to Sky Sports last week just to see the CL matches, because that's the only time I can see Italian teams play. Setanta coverage would be good, and I'm glad that deal's not 'dead in the water', but meanwhile I'll take the tips to watch the games on William Hill and to check out the Guardian podcast. Cheers.

Not sure if anyone else has posted about this in the past or not, but I just stumbled upon the following info and thought I should share...
SportsXchange (a betting site, apparently) now has a TV channel on Sky (channel 456) which appears to be showing two Coppa Italia games on Wednesday 17th December.
The games are Fiorentina v Torino (4:00pm) and Roma v Bologna (8:00pm).
It also appears to be showing a live Brazilian league game this Sunday at 6:00pm, if you're in to that sort of thing.
I'm not sure how reliable this info is because I personally haven't heard of SportsXchange, but it might be worth a look. _________________ ACF FIORENTINA : FORZA LA VIOLA

It's reliable, they have already shown two Coppa Italia games (Sampdoria-Empoli and Milan-Lazio). _________________ Up to the minute news, match reports and comment on http://www.football-italia.net/

Is it because CI can't have any affiliation towards a TV station that you decided not to tell us about the channel, or do you just not like us very much?

To be fair Mezz, they have been mentioning them on the C4 site.

I'm sure they mentioned it on the news page at some point as well. _________________ Forza Juve!!!

I've gotta vouch for Channel 456. The broadcasting quality of Brasillian footie is awesome in terms of picture quality.

Well so much for Sportsxchangetv it's stopped broadcasting. The channel now states a message saying 'RIP SportXchange - Crunch Credited' I was looking forward to the Coppa matches on there the other night.

Yeah, I noticed that SportsXchange was off the air after I bunked off work yesterday afternoon to get home and watch Fiorentina v Torino... _________________ ACF FIORENTINA : FORZA LA VIOLA

Good news, even if as someone has already mentioned the coverage is solely because of and will no doubt focus on one particular player.
If it goes well and is perceived to be a success it could lead to more games being shown, the fact that there is a major UK terrestrial broadcaster willing to cover the Sunday evening 19:30 kick-offs (even if it is for one off games) has to be good for serie a's exposure and increase the potential for a full deal next season? We can but hope!
As someone pointed out on another forum, channel 4's early coverage featured Gazza prominently and look what that led to!
Shall we run a sweepie on how long it takes them to mention catenaccio and the negativity of the italian league...think it took channel 5 about 5 mins of their 1st game to mention it...
