To be fair I argue a lot about deep house too because much of it doesn't float my boat. A bit wishy washy and predictable in many cases with not enough funk but when it's done properly it can be mindblowing especially when heard on a big system.

I'll have a think and get back to you!

That was in relation to a night on new year's day, ended up not going.

I did however go to Fabric on NYE.. Saw Slam for 4 hours then Adam Beyer for 4 hours, 15 minutes. I was a bit sceptical, thinking he'd be a bit heavy/quick but it was instead a marathon session of clinical, deliberate, driving techno

Slam are always great whenever I've heard them, they do know how to mix it up but they've have been at it for over 20 years in Glasgow!

Panda Rosso, some labels to check out; Innervisions, Pokerflat, Lost My Dog, Classic, 20:20 Vision, Crosstown Rebels, Ibadan & Nite Grooves.........

Had a browse through them on Beatport and they're all a bit housey and at times disco-y for me I'm afraid. But I am stuck in 2007 still trying to find decent techno and minimal, this is my current tune of the mo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fACI6T9SDAY

Nice but will much better on a big sound system! Sounds a bit like this from back in the day:

eN - Horn Ride.

We're coming from different ends of the House spektrum tbh.

So I'm a bit of a weirdo in that almost all the music I listen to was made more than twenty years before I was born.  I'm into just about all psychedelic rock, as well as most everything else from the 60s.  Amazing decade.  I've been spinning Jefferson Airplane Takes Off a lot lately, the only album they made before Grace joined the band, and also this more obscure album by a Vancouver band called the Collectors who later changed their name to Chilliwack and had a lot more commercial success.  Some sources I've read say it was released at the end of 1967 and some at the beginning of 1968, but whatever, some of the best psychedelic/baroque pop sounds I've ever heard.  It took me a while to track down the LP (I'm a vinyl freak) but it was very worth it.

It also has maybe my single favourite album cover of all time:

I will check it out and report back.

I recently went to 'I Am Lil' Louis' for a  six hour set which was a real trawl through everything from Disco to Acid. Very good night. I also  heard DJ Nature (one of Bristol's Wild Bunch from the 80's. Some of whom formed Massive Attack) the week after which again was a great night of House music..

'Content' has Techno God Kevin Saunderson at the end of the month as well so quite busy for an ageing clubber.

One of my cousins has very similar tastes so I'm used to hearing that kind of music. I'm glad you buy Vinyl as it sounds so much better than a CD or Mp3!

Great cover that. It could only have been designed in the '60s.

Buttrich was good but I don't remember much. Matt Tolfrey also played 3 hours of nice, driving tech-house which kind of surprised me.

Anyway, are there any Smiths fans on here?

Definitely, I love it, I believe the term is 'groovy.' I actually have a poster on my wall by the artist who made that cover:

And I'm glad you like vinyl as well!    It also appeals to me because, as mentioned, most of the music I listen to is from the era when vinyl was the only format, and it's also something collectable.  I also like old/vintage things in general, so there you have it.

Now that is very groovy! I think i'd be scared waking up to that most mornings though.

Panda Rosso, have you checked this mix out? Get on it I think you'll like it, especially later on. It's Andrew Weatherall and Sean from Alfos live in Bristol:

http://soundcloud.com/tb2_bristol/andrew-weatherall-sean

There's also a part two as well.

Nice, shame about the lack of download link!

I have admittedly followed a friend's lead with a lot of electronic music, and he's getting more housey so I imagine in not too long I'll be heading that way. I missed Steve Bug a few weeks ago which sounded bloody brilliant.

Super Flu this weekend though, been waiting a couple of years for them to play London

I'm glad you liked the mixes, I think Andrew Weatherall is our common ground for House/ Techno tastes. You should try out ALFOS (A Love From Outer Space) in London although it's a mid-weeker and also monthly.

There are ways of downloading a Soundcloud mix when the DL limit has been met. Leave it with me and I'll ask a cleverer man than myself at the weekend.

Edit: try this

http://offliberty.com/

I've no idea if it works still but it did last year!

Ahh, I used that site once last year but had completely forgotten about it. Grazie, it will also allow me to finally get a copy of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XttQP7d_-dE

Still the coolest theme tune ever
