They were lucky, well not so much lucky but very good at taking their chances! my man utd supporting ex-flatmate just texted saying we didn't put up a fight which i thought was unfair.
I really don't have faith, i may blindly love roma but i've watched them play too many times in england (roma i mean) to know they have a chance. I swear it's phsycological, we can always beat spanish teams but never beat english ones. _________________ Forza Roma!

Mezz, please accept my apology for my insulting remark. It was wrong of me to hope that Vidic - a man who is paid more money in a week than most of us here on this forum get paid in a year – would spend the rest of the season on the sidelines watching his team-mates go onto lift the European Cup along with the Premiership.
I let my emotions rule my actions more pruning otherwise we'd think you weren't being sincere |

Mezz, VB -
Forgive the pruning but...
VB - you made, if you'll forgive me for saying so, a silly remark about Vidic well below your normal standard of posting. Any Man Utd supporter would respond to it rather sharply.
Mezz did, and that put him in an invidious position, since he's a site admin and his understandably heated response put him in possible breach of the site rules, even though we're far more robust than the Victorian Values team that run what's left of the C4FI foro.
Sorry if you're both ticked off by the editing, but I don't think that it's fair for Mezz to be left in a position where he could be accused of breaching the site terms and conditions, nor is it fair to edit Mezz's posts and leave the ones causing the offence intact.

No opposition to your actions from my corner, Dave.
In fact, I myself have edited one of the posts you missed on the previous page where I had quoted Van Basten's original statement.
I'm rather more placid now that we've disposed of Roma for another year, you see? _________________ ACF FIORENTINA : FORZA LA VIOLA

Good work Dave. I dread to think what Vidic's parents might have thought had they read the offending post and it turns out that Vidic has a serious knee injury that keeps him out of football for 6 weeks. We're very lucky to have such a dedicated guardian of good taste as yourself.
How are you getting on with your Totodeath coupon by the way? Any successes yet?

Depends how you define success, George. I've kept Eric Hobsbawm alive to date by including him on my coupon, so that ranks as a minor achievement. Possibly.

FI site: "Francesco Totti's absence was sorely felt as a desperately unlucky Roma went down 2-0 at home to Manchester United in the quarter-final first leg."
Desperately unlucky? Can someone explain this one to me please, because the game I watched, a 2-0 result seemed fair enough.

We was schooled! I am sorry, but Manure were much better than we were.
As all season, we waste chance after chance after chance in the box. We have no clinical finisher. Vucinic is more of an impact player off the bench, and without Il Capitano we had no threat.
Please, I dont want that sad ass, no good scrub, waste of space Pizzaro anywhere near the field in a big game anymore. His is too lightweight to put out against a machine like United.
At one time we had the midget patrol out there-- Cicinho, Pizarro, Guily, and Esposito. OOOh, I bet they were scared. It;s not like it was Baggio and Maradona.
Anyways, CL is over for us.

man u were better? i dotn think so i roma outplay and create more than MAnU. Theyre finishing let them down as they should have been 4-0 up. Man utd had 2-3 tries and they buried them.
I think the 2nd leg with totti back will be a different game. its not over yet..england lost to france in 3 minutes and 2 freekicks at the last euro after holding them for 90mins...ac milan conceded 3 goals after dominating the first half with 3 goals..anything can happen in football ;)
have faith

Both teams had 50% possession, Roma had 2 shots on target and 8 off target, United had 4 shots on target and 6 off. Roma were the home side but created very little - yes, United took their chances but had the players capable of doing so.
So quite where did Roma outplay and create more than United??

Disastro! just back from the match..haven't read the forum yet. damn damn damn. all those chances, open goals missed. should have been 4-0. Uniteds first attack was 41st minute and they scored!
Anyway, i'm thinking of giving up watching football. I've been involved at club and league level for 24 years, and am still involved at a national level in the female game. Ive been coaching for about ten years, kids, men and women. If the future of football is the disgrace I watched last night in a number 7 shirt it's time I left the game. What I witnessed has no place in the game I love or loved and certainly has no place as a role model. Of all the kids I've coached if one of them regarded composing themselves like him I would be shamed and embarrassed that I had taught them nothing.
That's sincere people I was genuinely shocked.
Mightn't be back here for a while...

That's a shame. Some nice comedy potential will be lost there. "All those open goals missed" was a particularly pleasing piece of footballing myopia. I only watched the first half as the tie looked pretty much over after Ronaldo scored, and even if they scored a couple of their "open goals" Roma would still be heading for the exit after next week's game.
It's something of a mystery that somebody can follow Italian football for 20 years, with all its corruption violence and cheating and then say "that's enough" when they set eyes on Christiano Ronaldo. I'm no Scumchester fan, but that is quite perverse.

What the frig are you on about? I don't think I've ever read such a bumbling, incoherent post in my life. Even from Ronaldo_09.
Although I agree with your comments about that overrated shite in the number 7 shirt....I've never been a fan of Pizarro.

You've got to give credit where it's due and say that if Man Utd continue to play this football they deserve to win the Champions League this year. They are far and away the best team in Europe at the moment. _________________ CFC

poochiem pls stop coming to the stadium! We never in when you come over! Rosa I hope you bring more luck this saturday... are you still coming?
Roma were terrible. De Rossi was not 100% and you could tell. Wht do we have to pass the ball 500 times before shooting on goal?????????? So many chances not converted... We need a real striker..this is becoming a joke now.
Juan and Totti will miss the return leg as well...
I say concentrate on the scudetto now.... Genoa are not going to be a walk over on saturday.
At least the curva didnt turn on them... the players came under us at the end and they were clapped not booed.

Ronaldo is an @sswipe! He irritates me more and more every time I watch him.
But #7 in the Roma shirt was p!ssing me off much more because he SUCKS!!! Waste of space. Only good thing he did all night was knock the foofRonaldo over.
Poochiem-- don;t let it get to you. Cool off, and things will be fine.
As Roma Girl said, and I have continually said, Roma need a top class finisher. Period
As for Roma playing better than Untied on the night, what game was that??
I know I look thru tinted glasses but I never thought we would win after about 30 minutes
