Scratched my copy of Fifa 12 it's now unplayable.

Maybe you'll see sense now and play PES instead.

Which reminds me.  BTTMUU, PES 2012 coming out in Europe last week, but it's not out in the UK for another 2 weeks.  And from what I've read Konami have accidently put in a system which benefits online cheats for the 2nd year in a row.

Maybe playing PES isn't so sensible after all.

Not trying to be a fanboy but I'm one of the many former hardcore PES players who have gone over to Fifa since it's demise. PES used to be so far superior on a technical level and in my opinion them days are long gone.

PES 5 was the best.  I loved that.  It gradually got worse then with PES 2009 being a horrible game, but it's got better since then.

I've not played Fifa since Fifa 2003, which was clearly inferior to the PES of the time.  I've never been tempted back to Fifa though as I find PES now far more enjoyable than I found Fifa a decade ago.

Fifa could be a great game for all I know, but PES just has something which keeps me buying it, despite it's flaws.  With its improvements in PES 2011 I think it's on the up again, although I'm not sure anything will ever beat the magic of PES 5.

FIFA 12.

Don't get me wrong, I love the game when I'm actually playing in a match but there are so many options / modes on the main screen that I haven't got a f**king clue what I'm about to do whenever I hit a button.

I should probably point out that I've never owned a FIFA game in my life (I was PES all the way up until about a year ago), but it's easily the most awkward game I've ever had to navigate in my electronic existence....

Not convinced by Pro Evo.....yet. Seems easier to score, ref gives every foul, game also feels a little slower.

Annoying that you have to faff about with all the transfer stuff as none of the big summer signings have been taken care of.

DP, there's an official update that updates all the transfers for you.

My early judgement on PES 2012 is that it is better than the last few when playing against the AI.  As I mostly play online these days, I'm more concerned how it'll play against other humans though.  The last 2 have been very enjoyable in that regard, despite the average PES online opponent having the maturity of a 2 year old.

are you not finding that it always stop-start-stop-start ? Ref seems to blow up for every infringement.

Players also look....smaller while the pitch looks bigger ?

Dropped the difficulty down a notch and tried the just 'play' the game instead - Better, but, as always, will take some getting used to.

Not online so i'm going to have to update the whole lot myself

The refs aren't great, but are an improvement on the last game when they were wrong 75% of the time.

I'm playing on professional difficulty, and have found it more enjoyable than regular.  The AI is too good at dribbling though, and seems to be too good at corners.  I'm enjoying the attacking side of the game though.

Has anyone else found the difference between 'Legendary' on FIFA 11 & FIFA 12 to be huge?

I was regularly able to beat most 5-Star teams on ‘Legendary’ with Championship and League 1 teams but now on FIFA 12, I struggle to even beat 3-Star teams when playing with 5-Star teams!

I played as Barca against Man City last night – they had 60% possession and 100% pass rate during the first 60-odd mins of the match! 100%!!! That’s not one mislaid bloody pass!!! Errrr!!!

On FIFA 11, my possession never dipped lower than 60%, even on online games…

For first time ever, I'm regretting forking out full-bucks for FIFA - should have waited till after Christmas. I simply don't have the time to put in the practice...

Never touched legendary on 11 but I know what you mean, the difference between pro difficulties is also bigger I think.

Only just got it today and the defending I'm struggling to get to grips with.

Love it though, only annoyance is that Marchisio isn't as good as he should be!

BTTMUU:  Finding out when I get to work on the tv that Stade Francais were playing in Worcester and Parisse one of my 3 favourite Italian internationals is on the pitch and to make matters worse they are going to be partying in the rival club.  And then not being able to finish early to go to said rival club!

Getting stuck on a train for 3 hours on Saturday, meaning I missed our top of the table clash at Sheffield Wednesday.

Then getting off at Leicester at 3:20, we were held by police at the station despite the fact that their home match with Barnsley had long since started.

And then pretty much all trains back to London were cancelled or had major delays

Plus we beat the other Sheffield this weekend in exactly the same way.

Anyway, on the BTTMUU theme: http://www.guardian.co.uk/footbal...-arrested-alleged-racist-chanting

Sickening, and I can believe it. I was still around the ground drinking, but I was there at Orient when a group chose to abuse Kevin Lisbie in such a manner, and have heard the occasional comment aimed at opposition players.

It's only a very small minority, but it seems to be becoming more and more common... That article doesn't mention either that Charlton even had to set up a covert operation at Walsall away to try and identify such "people."

I get angry just by looking at Lazio's Andre Dias, and even more so by watching him play (read: foul).

Performances like that.  At least we learned that Cassano-Rossi-Balotelli is the best strikeforce we have, time to start praying that the former two get healthy in time for the Euros.
