Teams that you have a soft spot for

and why.

For me it's Charlton cos my Dad had a YTS apprentice in the 90s who was an Addick and we went to a fair few games at the Valley, always a fun day out.

"Valley Floyd Road the mist rolling in from the Thames".

Also being a Chelsea fan your supposed to h@te WHam and the Gooners but I never minded Wham cos they play good football and my Grandad was an Arsenal fan even coming from West London where Chelsea is the local side so I never had it in me to h@te them.

Sampdoria - Cos of their ERG shirts.
Arsenal - Cos they play sexy football and invest in youth.
International - Spain, Holland and Portugal. Sexy football and they never win anything. When Spain get too good Ill stop liking them. ;)

Oh and Brazil. When they're not playing France.

And Turkey. Cos I loved Emre.
Mezz

FC United of Manchester.
Liam

I always gain a soft spot for teams I've managed on Football Manager or other managing games I've played in the past.

I'd say my strongest soft spot is for Norwegian club Hammerfest who currently play in the 4th tier there.  I won the Champions League with them on FM.

After them I'd say Mantova, Luch Vladivostok and the team I'm managing on my current game TP-47 of Finland.

Non-FM related I admire Udinese.  I enjoyed watching them play last season and they seem to have a knack of finding talented players.
Duncan!

Napoli and of course, THE BHOYS

Can you be a fan of both Uniteds?

I've a soft spot for Lecce because I went there years ago. And Cowdenbeath, because when we were at school everyone would take the piss out of them, i.e. 'you're so shit you couldn't even play for Cowdenbeath'.

Definitely.

Quite a lot of Man United supporters go to both Old Trafford and Gigg Lane to watch FCUM, some now only go to FCUM games and will continue to do so until the Glazers are out and some only go to Man United games but support the philosophy behind FCUM.

I don't know of any Man United supporters who are against FCUM, primarily because the club was started up by fellow supporters who used to stand beside them on the Stretford End but became disillusioned with the way the club was being run (even before the Glazers turned up), and as far as I'm concerned the FCUM guys have had nothing but support from a majority who still can't tear themselves away from Old Trafford.

I deeply admire what FCUM has become and what it stands for, which is why I have a great deal of time for them, but my team is Manchester United.

You can buy the body, but not the soul.

Arsenal because of 'Les Invincibles', Everton because I hate Liverpool with all my heart, Man City because i hate United and the hyprocrite Ferguson with all my heart, Barcelona for their passing and home grown players and any team from Turkey because i spend a few months there every year and the Turks looovveeee everything about football.

oh, and Genoa and Chievo
azzurro89

Everton because the great Timmy Cahill (Aussie football golden child) plays there.

And Atalanta, did an exchange there and fell in love with Bergamo. They seem to hate Juve for taking their players for some reason... cant remember the last player we took off then though
nino

Napoli because it's where the folks are. Sora, Frosinone and Isola Liri for the same reason. FC Fossombrone for their funky kit.

Notts County for growing some of Juventus origins. Cardiff City because it's the hometown for me now.

Sevilla from being their Championship Manager and Real Betis for when they had the green & white version of Juve's lovely Kappa kit back in their Denilson being most expensive player in the world days.
Jimmilson

Albinoleffe because when I was across in Italy for a Juve home game I while back I caught an Albinoleffe home game and was enchanted. It was a great experience and I also love the romantic little story about them.

Lazio, Bologna and Fermana because when I was 15-16 they offered me trials before my knee caved in right on cue.

Newcastle because they're local.

Embarrassingly, Chelsea because of their Italian contingent during the nineties.
USCittadipalermo88

I'd have to say genoa and southampton   my other team is celtic   as I was born in glasgow (my mum is from palermo   )

Blackpool - mate from uni took me to a few seasiders' games when they were in the bottom league. Crap footie but had some good piss ups!

Tenerife - went on lads' holidays there when I was a nipper. Top flight now!

Deportivo Wanka - how can you not love them?

I thought they had ceased to exist, but according to Wiki they stil participate in the Peruvian cup but don't play league football.

Speaking of clubs that no longer exist, I had a soft spot for Meadowbank Thistle. I used to sneak into their games as a kid and my mate was their ballboy. Being the only one he had a lot of running to do.

Soft spot for Argentina too.
Curva Fiesole

I always had a soft spot for Meadowbank Thistle, as they were always bottom of the league.  Didn't they morf into Livingston?

Slavia Prague, as I saw them play In Prague and Torquay because of many drunken weekends down there (never seen them play though!)

Yeah. They were called Livingston FC MT for a few seasons then they dropped the MT bit. I think that was their attempt to placate the Meadowbank fans.
Curva Fiesole

Judging by their attendances, that would have been both of them!!
Yoong

Sheffield Wednesday - The name got my attention when I was a kid, and Wednesday used to be my favourite day of the week. And Paolo Di Canio.

Milan - Has nothing to do with Di Canio. Again as a kid, Milan was the only club written with alphabets alongside its chinese translation characters  (AC米兰) in the Serie A league standings, in the Chinese daily sport section. It got my attention, too.
Myles

Hey Yoong

Long time no see.

How's it going mate, like the avatar, Baggio per Sempre!

Ciao Myles! Tutto bene! Everything's fine.
It's been a while, you know, cutting down on calcio.
Well, Roby is the light at the end of the tunnel (gloomy overview of calcio), the inspiration, lol.

How do you do?
mikeoneill16

Brescia-beacuse of the magical 4 years when Roberto was there.

Sampdoria-Cassano and Chievo Miracle man Del Neri.

Napoli-for bringing Maradona to the peninsula and posessing the remarkable talent of Marek Hamsik.

Frosinone-I managed them in FIFA09.

Perugia-because they were a bunch of f***ing headbangers.

Triestina-they have a young Irish lad Conor McCormack on their books.
zico

Lazio
Sampdoria
Fiorentina
Triestina

All have links with us, and our fans have a 'twinning' that is common in calcio.

also like Pro Patria and Cittadella, and further down Sambinofacese as they are local to Verona.

I used to like Roma but that was purely because of Spalletti, Ive gone back to hating them again.
arthurdent

Sampdoria, Torino, Bologna, Dundee Utd, Port Vale, Schalke.
Markieboy

Behind the Celts, it's Sligo Rovers, Stenhousemuir, St. Etienne, Velez Sarsfield, Siena, Cagliari, almost any other Italian team depending on opponent, and St. Pauli.

I liked that great Arsenal team but like every other English club I failed to cultivate that soft spot for them.
