Forza Milan

Ooh I get to start the new topic.

I am very happy about our victory over mighty Genoa. Still no striking from our striker though. Still, you can't have everything.

Hooray 2nd in the league !  :-D
Guest

I felt sorry for you being here alone Verno so I thought I'd come in and agree.
Jay

Hi verno. How are you?

Nice start to the season although I still think we need another striker.

Thank you Giancarlo, what a gentleman you are. Did you enjoy that draw ?

Hiya Jay I think we are going to have a real problem this season. Somehow we managed to get 4th place and win the CL last season but I believe we are riding our luck. Gilardino obviously can't hack it and Pips and FatRon are going to be in the treatment room a lot of the time. If Kaka gets injured we are totally effed.
I'm pleased with Oddo though. It seems he really was worth all that fuss.
Guest

After that moment of madness from Cesar i kind of felt it was going that way anyway. Still disappointing not to win opener though.
Guest

Not really carried away by that Genoa win. Great to start on a winning form, but Genoa are too naive and soft. Gila is just, well, Gila. He's a poor footballer, that one. Which is why I'm mad about not signing a striker. Expect to see a lot of R99 and Pippo on the injury list.
Jay

Verno & sms - I agree with both of you about our forwards. Pippo and Ronnie, to my mind, add up to one striker because they each spend about half the season injured.

Well, we've a couple of days left to buy another striker
verno

How does everyone feel about our CL draw - Benfica, Celtic and Shaktar Donestsk ?
We should be able to get through this group. I'd like it to be a little less hard work than last season.
I feel a bit sorry for Roma having to go back to Manc Land so soon. I bet ITV are thrilled. How tedious.
Jay

Reasonable enough draw, I think.

I see it was amost a Milan clean sweep at the big Uefa bash tonight with Kaka, Seedorf and Maldini winning the forward, midfielder and defender of the year and Kaka getting player of the year.
verno

Seedork ? He played like a fanny again last night.

I'm glad we won last night even though the game was pretty much insignificant.
Everyone did ok. I thought the prob in the first half was that we had nobody to get on the end of Oddo's passes. Great goal from Pips. He is worth 10 of Gila.
Another dodgy goal from a corner. I get scared every time someone gets a set-piece against us. I think Carletto is going to have to work on that.

Hope the old geezers aren't too knackered to face Fiorentina on monday.

When are they going to show a Milan game on Channel 5 ? They are showing 'extended highlights' of Roma v Siena on tuesday instead. WTF ?

LOL I know the feeling :-P
Guest

Watching the Sevilla game makes me wonder once again why we don't use the wings. We need wide players, otherwise we'll just be too predictable as is the case now. Trying to play through the middle time and time again makes it too tediuos and easy to read/stop. But I guess wing-play died the day CA became our coach. In any case, forza Milan. Now the three points against Fiorentina.
Guest

Ah, well. Not a good display. Probably due to fatigue. Fiorentina deserves thier point though.
verno

I knew we would draw this game. I had a feeling in my bones. Why aren't Channel 5 showing this tonight instead of Roma - Siena ? Bah humbug.

Apparently poor old Gila was jeered all night. That isn't going to help his shaky confidence. Who reckons he's out next year ?
Guest

In all fairness to Gila he needs crosses. It would have been better for both Pippo and Gila to have played together as Pippo looked jaded(and missed an embarrassing chance ). Caro reverted back to type yesterday by subbing a mid for mid, forward for forward and def for def. Also one forward in the Serie A doesn't work - that is for europe only.
verno

Poor Pips, you can't expect the old geez to play twice in 3 days. I suppose FatRon is injured still/again.
Guest

That is why he and Gila should have played together.

And Ron is still injured.
Guest

Ron is injured. As expected. Pippo and Gila can't play together. Unless on critical situations, where there're no alternatives. Like the Fio match. The combo was tried on numerous occasions. It just won't work. I'm not in least surprised by CA's subs. We all know he sucks when it comes to subs. Pato is playing in a friendly at D. Kiev tonight. Lets hope he come good soon.
Guest

Ronaldo's back tonight too, Ancelotti didn't want to risk him at the weekend. Saw some new pictures of him over the Summer, looks like the Lab has done a good job getting him in shape, even has a 6-pack now.

Surprised Emerson came on for Gourcuff when you needed a goal, but guess Emerson has the bigger ego that needs to be catered for.
Guest

Sorry the Kiev game is tomorrow. And Ron is still injured. Even Galliani admits the injury's kinda mysterious
verno

Perhaps they weaned him off the pies too quickly.
Duncan!

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Nice zinger, but maybe true
Duncan!

Oh yeah, and Emerson still sucks
Guest

You could be right. 'Specially as they now call him 'The New
Improved Slimline Ron". All the more reason why we shouda got another striker.
Guest

Duncan! wrote:

I still can't understand why we bought him
verno

Me neither.

Wotcha Duncan
Duncan!

Guest

Well, unlike you guys, I feel Emerson would be useful. He's not bought to be a starter. He would provide extra depth in the midfield. He's a proven Seria A veteran, full of experience and a hard worker. He's not your typical flashy Brazilian, but can be relied upon to do his job dutifully. In a long season where Pirlo and Gattuso need the occasional rest, I can see why he's bought. That said, I would have preffered Gourcuff be given more playing time.
Guest

Emmerson is slow lazy and can't tackle, IMO he will get the most yellow and red cards next season.

Anyway, for those who missed last night's game here is the highlights-Dynamo Kiev 2 - 2 AC Milan - Friendly Game Highlights

Enjoy
Duncan!

How come this Ronaldo saga is not surprising. Never count on him for the season. Never
Guest

It would have been a surprise otherwise. That's why I felt the management was foolish not to have acquired a striker. It would have been wiser to keep Oliveira until at least January. Well, I personally rate him better than Gila. Now new names are begining to crop up for January - Anelka, Kanu, etc.
verno

The head of the Italian Olympic Committee is saying the treatment FatRon is getting could be considered doping.
The only striker we have who can play a whole game is Gila.
Could it be time to give Aubameyang a run out ? Needs must...
Guest

Well the treatment was dompleted and he's on his way back. Its not a clear case issue, as there's no explicit law against it. Aubameyang didn't impress at the Moscow tounament against CSKA and PSV. I don't think CA will give him that much playing time. His brother (Pierre Aubameyang) however is very good.
Guest

The CL is here again Good thing we're starting at home, seeing as we've already started wobbling. But this is Milan, and it is europe. I'm optimistic for a win. The x-mas tree would do, with pippo at the head.

I think Carlo should watch out, 6 points from 4 games and Mourinho on the prowl. Sort it out.
Is Gattuso injured ?

What's this about Milan fans' reaction to Dida and Gila and Maldini reacting agrily?
verno

Some fans jeered Dida and Gila. Maldini got miffed. Reckoned they should be more forgiving/grateful. Bonera added his two pence (but who gives a shit about him anyway ?).

This week there was apparently a banner at the stadium reading:
"GILA AND DIDA WE FORGIVE YOU"
Guest

Can't say I blame the fans. With the all the promise of "big signing that would shock the world" by Galliani, we ended up with a 17-yr old who can't play until January. It is frustrating really, seeing how we play, and the crap performance from GIla and Dida, week in week out. My only problem is why the fans don't jeer Cancelloti.
verno

I can't blame the fans for being frustrated, I am too. 6 points from 4 games is pathetic. We are already totally off the pace in the league. I don't want us to limp to 4th like we did last season.
We need new ideas and we need them quick.
Guest

Quote:

That's the problem. You won't get no new ideas with CA. The man's so one-dimensional tactically it beggars belief. I sat and thought for a long time, looking for any reason why he would play 3 defensive midfielders and a single striker against the likes os Siena and Parma(at home ). We have no width, and no fast attackers cos Ancelotti does not like "wide" players and so refused to change his formation, sticking to the same formation for 3 yrs. I tell you we're so slow and predictable it is funny.
VB

Oh dear. We are a sorry lot in deed. Looks like the Scudetto is increasingly becoming a distant dream, or has that always been the case this season?

Sadly, already I’m thinking of reasons why to watch Milan during this domestic campaign. It seems like groundhog day: the team has changed very little over the last couple of years, and the only real pleasure I’ve got from watching them has been when they’re playing in Europe. However, the prospect of seeing how Pato adapts and develops come the New Year is intriguing.
Guest

Waay.

Sorry to say it but the team you put out tonight looked like a 'B' team . And so many elderly players; Seedork, Inzaghi, Nesta's no spring chicken anymore, Emerson, even Pirlo's been around for a while. New blood needed. I don't think it's Mancini who needs worry about the 'Special' one.

Very true. While experience's vital and we've been succesful with that team, comes a time when you let go and inject new. Taht has long been overdue. But I can't see Mourinho at Milan. Hasn't Galliani said (for whatever his words are worth ) whoever's taking over from CA should be from Milan's past? I predict they would stick with him, until we barely escape relegation. Only then maybe would he be changed.
VB

I try my very best to be an optimist. So looking at Milan from a negative perspective means they may not lift the Scudetto again while under the command of CA.

The bright side – and I believe there is one in this dire situation - is every other year they’ll will reach the CL final, and hopefully more often than not win

Glad I watched it now, just to see the look on Berlusconi's face when that goal went it

With Milan's lack of scoring punch lately, maybe Milan should have kept Boriello and Foggia

Under 30 I suppose is the reason

I'm taking a positive from our current form. Which is, if this continues, we might see the back of Ancelotti Plus I hope Galliani is happy. And what a birthday present for Berlu. Serves them right. We are covered in all positions, eh?

As I said, it would take at least a 10th position finish in the league, and an early exit from the CL to send Ancelotti away. Oddly enough, I would accept those conditions.
Guest

We will win tonight and it will be the turning point!!
Guest

A win is possible, yeah. But I'm more inclined to feel its a draw. Europe is a different ball game for milan. But then for how long before we're found out there also?

Half-Time Reports: Lazio 1-1 Real Madrid, Celtic 0-0 Milan
Guest

Thanks for nothing Milan.

Only bright spot is that Scumtic will get hammered for the fan's assault on Dida. Or at least they should get hammered, knowing them they'll get away with it.
VB

Performance - not surprising one bit.
Result - not surprising one bit.
Dave

I didn't see the incident, but it sounds from the various reports as though a large fine/fixtures behind closed doors penalty would be most likely rather than a points deduction or being thrown out of the competition. IIRC, Feyernood received a final warning after their fans tried to start World War 3, so I can't see the penalty being too harsh in any event.

If UEFA were feeling really harsh they'd make Celtic have Rafa Benitez as manager for European fixtures - he seems to have lost the plot a little at the moment...
Guest

Judging on our punishment after Dida's last incident in the Champions League (is he the unluckiest keeper in the world for fan attacks?) Celtic must get a minimum punishment of their remaining two games behind closed doors otherwise UEFA are making it up as they go along.
Guest

The fan just tapped him on the face with his hand, nothing hard. Dida should be banned for being a tit.
Jimmilson

I'm intrigued as to what happened there. It only looked like a little slap but it wasn't in Dida's or Milan's interest to feign injury, and the guy looked in pain.
Guest

Regardless of how hard or not Dida was hit the fact remains a fan attacked him on the pitch. Get the filth banned, and they claim to be the greatest fans in the world......

UEFA have a history of taking a hard line on this kind of thing. A lot will depend on how much Milan make of it, and seeing as they lost I have a feeling they'll have a lot to say on it.

Can't believe I'm sticking up for Milan, only when they play the greatest scum the world has ever know, never again.

Galliani has announced that Milan will not be making an appeal. I just saw this in an interview on Sky Italia.

Celtic will probably get a hefty fine
Guest

I hear you Gingeki but after watching the game it seems they are quite good at looking in pain when they're not. I'm not condoning the fans behaviour but I hope the decision won't be effected by Dida's reaction.

Milan: No legal action against Celtic

More importantly 5 games without a win in Serie A and now this debacle in Galsgow putting progression through group stage of CL in serious doubt. You lot can't seem to buy a win just now and I can't see Ancellotti lasting much longer. Too soon to predict a long barren period but at this point you begin to wonder . . . . .

Ancelotti analyses Milan crisis
Dave

Jim, assuming that Dida..ahem.. over-reacted to the contact, he may have thought that the ref might abandon the game (unlikely, but could have done if he thought Dida was seriously hurt), or - more likely - he may have considered the possibility of UEFA overturning the result and awarding the game to Milan.

People are doing their utmost to downplay the severity of this incident. When Celtic scored, the players ran over to the corner to celebrate and all hell broke loose. Fans rushed to the front and quickly overwhelmed stewards trying to keep them back; as a result, some advertising boards were flattened, prompting stewards from behind the goal to act as reinforcements. It was this fracas that allowed the bedlam to follow, as no-one was attentive enough to prevent the intruder.

Celtic's "good conduct" at European events in recent years may well work for them, but at least this exposes the myth that one club in Glasgow has "great" fans and the other (i.e. Rangers) is the devil's offspring. But in the 21st Century, a load of blokes shouting naughty things about the Pope is more horrific than the threat of violence.
Guest

I think what Milan say publically and what Milan say behind closed doors to UEFA may be two different things.
Guest

gingeki wrote:

Let's hope so. Anything to incriminate Celtic gets my full endorsement.
Guest

Bracey Celtic were fined last season by UEFA for their fans throwing bottles so not sure if they have the good behaviour to fall back on.

DIda does indeed make a meal of it (as he always does, especially when it comes to shot stopping) and the Scottish media are already in full effect trying to sweep it under the carpet (I've heard it described as a playful slap) and there have even been calls that the only action UEFA need to take is to ban Dida.

But the fact remains that Celtic have had a problem with thier fan's behaviour for years and have a history of fans getting on the pitch or for throwing things, that corner where all hell broke loose has always been chaotic.

Anyway, I actually fear that Mourinho may be in the Milan hotseat in the near future. Hopefully Milan can pick up till he gets a job elsewhere and then go back to being rubbish.
verno

Dida has been a twat of late but he still go hit in the face. Can you imagine the scale of the outcry if the same thing had happened to precious Rooney.

I should imagine that a group stage exit and continued rotten form in the league will see the end of Ancelotti. If it doesn't I will begin to wonder what Carlo has on Berlu & Dr Evil.
We also need wholesale change in the transfer department. Moronic f**kers.
Guest

I've only seen a 2 second clip so I hold my hands up if the bloke really is (somehow) hurt but Dida looked like a right tit to me. Has he got no pride or anything? Going down like someone who has just been blasted in the face with a rocket or something? In front of millions of people! I can't get in the mind set of a lot of footballers - it's times like this I do think it has become quite an ugly game. Maybe I'm far too cynical and I don't suppose we'll ever know but one of the first things that came into my mind after it all was he's hamming it up to trying and get the game called off - it's just the way the game is these days - too many players do that kind of thing now and it taints your view of incidents
Guest

gingeki wrote:

and foxes too - I always remember watching an old firm with my cousin in a pub once and random as hell a fox suddenly ran on the pitch - apparently the tims had released it or something. I felt so sorry for that fox - not only would the poor thing have had to spend time around celtic fans it also would have been scared witless by the whole scenario. I always wondered where it ended up
Guest

I was at that game (won 1-0 Laudrup scored)!!

It was it's second appearance. It was during San Giro's rebuilding work and there were temporary stands and things like that in place and loads of space for a fox to get in the ground and then on the pitch. Poor thing looked rabid, must have been biten by a local.

Getting a bit off topic here. Better get it back to the subject of the thread. So, Milan, are they shite or what?
zeds

It's irrelevant if Dida made a meal of the slap or whatever. The point is the bainless tw@t that got onto the pitch should've been prevented from doing so, and because he wasn't Celtic should be punished.
It matters not if it was a slap or a kiss the idiot should never have been on the pitch
Guest

True Dida flipped out easily, but the point really is, he was attacked by a fan! Can't believe some are trying to make Dida the villain here. Much like the brit press, really.

I've gone beyond being suprised. It is what I expect. And like I said, it is the only thing that would guarantee CA exit. So its a bittersweet loss This is the result of the management's shortsightedness, stupidity, arrogance, cheapiness.

Only thing that annoyed me more than anything is Ancelotti's excuse that it was the RAIN caused it!! Can you believe it. He forgot last time we beat Manure in the rain 3-0. Unless he's saying San Siro rain is different from Celtic rain The tw@t.

That was one of my favourite Old Firm games ever! I also remember that game for Peter Van Vossen's outrageous misses when it looked easier to score.

Anyway, back to the topic....Milan have had a shaky start to the season, but give Ancelotti time to make sense of it all. Have faith in the man who guided you to CL glory in May.

Well, shiite is a bit too far. Lets just say the law of diminishing return has set in on the current set-up Like Costacurta said last year, the circle is complete, it is time to reshuffle. Of course they didn't listen to him. Ancelotti took offence, as he deemed it was directed at him.

My dad reckons he should be banned for 6 games. I reckon the humiliation is enough of a punishment. I'm quite embarassed about the whole episode but the 'fan' shouldn't have been on the pitch in the first place.

Looks like Dida could be getting in trouble too according to the C4 site. http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/oct4f.html

I hope justice is done because his reaction was quite simply a farce.
