My internet speed is currently 14 kps (or whatever it is). Even *I* know that this is very slow. Why is it so slow and how can I fix it ? _________________ Forza Milan

What type of connection are you on, Verno?
If it's dial-up, then you need to sort your life out sharpish, treacle.
If it's standard broadband, then you should have a word in the shell-like of your provider. Alternatively, try the following:
Start Menu > Run > type 'msconfig' > click 'OK' > click the 'Startup' tab > Uncheck all the boxes next to programs that you don't need running as soon as you turn your PC on (iTunes, QuickTime etc... basically anything you can start with a simple double-click from your desktop/Start menu) > restart the PC > on restart, click 'Don't show this message again' (or something similar) then click 'OK'.
Have you run Disk Cleanup or Disk Defragmentor recently? If not, do it now. You can find both of them by doing the following: Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools.
If it's wireless broadband, you might try moving the router (or whatever it's called) a few feet north/south/east/west and see if there's a difference.
I was having an issue with BT's wireless hub thingy until I moved it to the left by about two feet and it's been spot on since then... _________________ ACF FIORENTINA : FORZA LA VIOLA

Can anyone remember what the teletext page is on ITV1 which shows the latest European league football scores on a Sunday?
Grazie!

Verno, will you be labelling your memory stick 'Paolo's Positions' ?

I'm not sure that powerpoint presentations on military history count as pornography, but if they do, then yes....

Myles - I think verno's only really interested in the thought of Paolo playing in the hole...
(Coat? I'm already wearing it....)
Going back to the point I was about to make - why not see if Five are interested? They don't even list football on their website at the moment, let alone have a forum. I can't see them launching a takeover turning you into an overnight millionaire, but they might just be interested in associating the programme with the website - you know the sort of thing - 'and if you want to discuss the match, why not go to our partner website at....'
The forum would have to migrate there, I suppose, but if Five were prepared to pay a small sum for advertising other programmes, and if other prospective advertisers materialised, you could make a small return on the effort invested.

I will contact C5 to see if they want to link to the forum after i get rid of the google adverts. I'll be getting a credit card next week so then i will be ordering 6 months of ad-free on this forum.
I doubt C5 will pay any money for advertising on the forum as we only have 57 registered users and it won't be available on google and Yahoo search engines for another 3-5 weeks. I haven't actually looked into the cost of the sponsored links on google yet, but i imagine they'd be quite expensive, though i'll check it out.
However, if C5 linked to the forum and advertised on the forum for free until maybe January then we might up our number of registered users sufficiently to negotiate money for advertising thereafter. This is all hypotetically speaking of course, especially since C5 website is very poor (if i'm looking at the right one) so they obviously don't care that much about their website, which might inhibit their interest at all. Obviously any money that would be raised would have to be raffled off to members of the forum, well people who have reached a certain amount of posts, say 50 or 100 by the time the draw takes place.

Bollocks to that, the money should go to the site admins and moderators so we can lord it over the other forum users, without whom we would have nothing to administrate or moderate!
That's how it works, right?...

Has anyone subscribed to Setanta for just 1 month and then binned it?
I'm thinking of getting it just for October as Villa are on twice that month. Can I pay just for the calendar month of October and then stop? If so, would this just cost me £9.99 with no installation fee (I've got sky digital)?
Grazie!
